Greetings!   This Web Site is a work in progress!  Please feel free to watch us grow thru this development.  Also, if you have any problems navigating thru the catalog, please contact us. -- Thank you.

We are Bill and Rusty Baumgartel, and Blueberry Hill is our home. We’d been looking for a place where we could garden and nurture our hobbies and interests. An early 19th century log house caught our eye. It was located at the foot of the Allegheny Front, one hollow south of the “world famous Horseshoe Curve” near Altoona, Pennsylvania. One day, an ad appeared in the newspaper saying it was for sale. We jumped on the opportunity. Now we had plenty of room for a workshop and for growing blueberries. That was in 1960 – and we’ve been here ever since.

After we moved onto the property, we discovered that the soil was acidic. A little research, and we knew what we could grow – blueberries! Blueberries love the acidic soil, and we love blueberries – a perfect match. We even use them as landscaping plants. Most of our berries mature in the mid-season, but we also have a few early and late varieties, including “Jersey” and “Patriot.”
